What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners. Cookies do not contain personally identifiable information on their own — they typically contain a unique identifier that allows the website to recognise your browser on return visits. Similar technologies such as local storage and session storage may also be used by DreamStay for functional purposes (for example, remembering your recent searches). These are governed by the same principles as this Cookie Policy.

How DreamStay uses cookies

DreamStay uses cookies for the following core purposes: Authentication — To keep you logged in to your account across pages and sessions. Without this, you would need to log in on every page. Security — To protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks and fraudulent payment attempts. Booking functionality — To maintain your search state, selected rooms, and checkout progress as you move through the booking flow. Preferences — To remember your recent searches and display them in the location search dropdown. Analytics — To understand which pages are most visited, how users navigate the booking flow, and where we can improve the experience. We use this data in aggregate only. Payment security — Our payment provider (Stripe) sets cookies to detect fraudulent activity and maintain payment session state.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies on DreamStay are set by third-party services we use to operate the Platform: Stripe — Sets cookies for fraud detection and payment session management. Stripe's cookie policy is available at stripe.com/privacy. Mapbox — May set cookies when you use the location search feature. Mapbox's privacy policy is available at mapbox.com/legal/privacy. Google Analytics (if enabled) — Sets cookies to help us understand site usage in aggregate. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Meta Pixel (if enabled) — Sets cookies to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. You can opt out via your Meta account privacy settings. We do not control third-party cookies and recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these providers directly.

Managing your cookie preferences

You have several options for controlling cookies: Browser settings — Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent core features from working. Browser-specific guides: • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data • Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions Opt-out tools — For analytics and marketing cookies, you can use industry opt-out tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out at optout.networkadvertising.org. Please note that if you delete or disable cookies, some features of DreamStay may not work correctly, including logging in and completing bookings.

Do Not Track

Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing is not tracked. Currently, there is no industry-wide standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. DreamStay does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals. We continue to work toward greater privacy controls for our users and will update this policy as standards evolve.

Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of DreamStay after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Manage cookie settings

You can manage non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Essential cookies required for login and payments cannot be disabled.
